A long time ago, many people believed that education is just sitting in a classroom, answer some workbook, color and memorize numbers or alphabet.
Sometimes it is OK for people to follow only and work. But, the real problem we are facing now is that technology is improving.
And most of the basic jobs will be replaced by Artificial Intelligence in the near future.
So, if our world is changing, how can future kids survive?
What is the most important thing that a child should have?
Should you worry if your child doesn’t want to study?
If your child doesn’t want to study at his age, you shouldn’t worry much.
Instead, let your kids enjoy and play some good toys/games.
The most important thing your child needs to have is a Science brain.
Unfortunately, science brain is not taught by just writing letters, copying from teachers and coloring worksheets.
What is a Science Brain?
Having a science brain is based on having a science-based thought.
Science brain/thinking is the ability to develop by thinking logically on own, and when trying to understand things through the test of trial and error.
It is not just about science figures or illustrations about science.
How to develop Science Brain?
Maria Montessori thought that moving fingers is also important in developing a child’s brain.
According to her theory, Refinement/coordination of movement is from 2.5 to 4.5 years of age. This is when the child may start using both hands in the coordination of fine movements, being able to hold small items with pincer grip and release voluntarily.
To develop science thinking in child, hand and fingers movement is very important.
Science brain will not improve unless the hands and fingers are not developed.
There are ways to stimulate the science brain by hands using, clay, blocks, fingers stitches, paper foldings and many more.
What can you do for your child to improve his science brain?
Here are some of the simple ways you can do to help your small child develop his science brain.
1. Make your child independent with dressing skills
When you let your kids do their dress buttoning or shoe lacing, you are not only letting him become independent. More importantly, this simple tasks has a greater impact on his fine motor skills.
It allows your child to focus, use hand control and coordination with the brain functions.
2. Encourage kids to play more tangible puzzles and games, don’t always use smart devices
Nowadays, smartphones are everywhere and you can see many kids play with it and watch videos from it. But, you can use actual puzzles for your kids. Blocks, sorting, and jigsaw puzzles can improve the child’s critical thinking skills. Puzzles allow children to practice the use of problem-solving skills.
3. Let kids tidy up bed or pick some rubbish when they play (pincers grasp is improved)
Simple tasks like picking up small things on the floor can help your child have a scientific thought. Your child will be able to exercise his pincers and exercise the whole body as you promote this activity.
4. Use of chopsticks
“Studies show that engaging the concentrated areas of nerve cells in your fingertips directly stimulates your brain,” says Maoshing Ni, Ph.D., http://edition.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/09/09/memory.boosters/index.html
5. Use of Playdough
